selecting your guinea pig

To select your guinea pig you should take notice of:

1. There must be no discharge from eyes, ears, nose or mouth.

2. The breathing should be regular and silent.

3. The coat should be dense without being course.

4. When handled, the guinea pig should feel ‘solid’ and well covered.

5. An alert guinea pig with a shiny coat which is unsoiled by droppings or urine.

6. Droppings should be formed without evidence of diarrhoea.
